Greek classics explored in a course at Teatro Ágora with Celso Frateschi
Teatro Ágora in São Paulo will offer a course on dramatic literature from March, featuring theater professor Welington Andrade and actor Celso Frateschi.
Teatro Ágora in São Paulo is set to launch another edition of its course 'Texto e Cena' (Text and Scene) starting in March. This course will delve into the evolution of dramatic literature with a focus on the history of the performing arts. Led by theater professor Welington Andrade, who is also the editor of the magazine Cult and a prominent theater critic, the course aims to enhance the understanding of dramatic arts through historical context and selected texts.
The course is structured into six modules, each independent and designed to be taken individually, catering to the diverse interests of participants. The first module, commencing on March 7, will cover the origins of theatrical expressions from the Greco-Roman period, presenting essential tragedies and comedies through a series of 15 lectures. Andrade will not only analyze significant authors and works but also provide contextual histories that shape our comprehension of these theatrical pieces.
Additionally, Celso Frateschi, a co-founder of Teatro Ágora, will contribute by leading dramatic readings with guest actors, enriching the learning experience for students. This collaborative approach aims to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical performance, making the tradition of classic Greek theater accessible and engaging for contemporary audiences in Brazil.
