Mendonça authorized the breaking of the 'Lulinha' secrecy before the CPMI of INSS
Minister André Mendonça authorized the breach of financial, fiscal, and telematics secrecy of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as 'Lulinha', before the approval by the CPMI related to the INSS.
Minister André Mendonça from Brazil's Supreme Court (STF) has authorized the breaking of the banking, tax, and telematic secrecy of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, commonly referred to as 'Lulinha'. This decision came shortly before the approval of similar secrecy breaches by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) regarding the National Social Security Institute (INSS). Notably, Fábio is the eldest son of Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The approval of this breach was granted following a request from the Federal Police, and the details of the authorization have remained confidential. This investigation, which has been ongoing since January, stems from allegations regarding improprieties in discounts for retirees and pensioners linked to the INSS, raising the stakes for the president’s family amidst heightened scrutiny. The Federal Police have reported that their findings include references to Fábio Luís, and there are concerns that he might have played a role as a hidden partner of a key figure in this alleged corruption scheme associated with the INSS. This revelation, covered by the newspaper "Estado de S. Paulo" and TV Globo, could have significant political implications, as it intertwines issues of governance, trust, and accountability while highlighting the potential intersections between public service and familial ties in Brazilian politics.
