Attempts to declare income ended in failure: VMI explained why this happened

Many Lithuanians experienced technical difficulties while attempting to declare their income electronically to the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI), leading to frustration and inquiries about system failures.

In Lithuania, numerous citizens faced challenges when trying to file their income declarations electronically with the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI). Many reports highlighted persistent error messages prompting users to retry their submissions. Concerned taxpayers reached out to Lrytas seeking clarity on whether the issues were due to systemic failures, resulting in widespread confusion and calls for guidance.

The VMI clarified that the disturbances were due to a technical issue blocking the smooth operation of their electronic services. However, they reassured the public that these problems have been resolved, and as of now, all systems including the electronic declaration system and the income declaration wizard are functioning correctly. The Inspectorate took the time to acknowledge customers' frustrations and apologized for the temporary inconveniences.

As of the latest reports, around 448,000 residents have already successfully declared their income, and VMI is encouraging everyone who has received funds from entities such as Jeffrey Epstein to ensure their financial dealings are transparent. This incident underlines the ongoing challenges that taxpayers can face with electronic systems and the importance of maintaining clear communication from government entities during such technical disruptions.
