The immersive exhibition 'Color Thrill' takes you on a journey from the birth of color photography to the digital age
The exhibition 'Color Thrill' at the Estonian Museum of Photography explores the principles of color physics, the history of color photography, and offers interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.
The Estonian Museum of Photography has launched a new immersive exhibition called 'Color Thrill', which presents an engaging journey through the development of color photography. This exhibition aims to enlighten both children and adults by explaining the principles of color physics in a simple and interesting manner. Visitors can learn about color perception and the historical milestones in color photography, starting from its first public display in 1861 to modern digital photography.
The exhibition is structured as a journey through the museum's halls and vaulted corridors, showcasing the evolution of color photographs. Curator Merilis Roosalu emphasizes the unique opportunity to view some of the oldest color photographs in Estonia, highlighting that while the originals are small and fragile, they are displayed here in high-resolution prints that reveal intricate details and nuances that would typically go unnoticed.
Designed as interactive experience spaces, the exhibition allows visitors to color images by hand, explore color synthesis, compose their own color photographs, and view diapositive slides. Guests are encouraged to bring their own slide collections, offering a fun opportunity for personal discovery and engagement with the history and art of color photography.
