Confusion over the TV Republika license. The station's president will file a complaint with the prosecutor's office
Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika, announced that the station has paid all installment fees for its broadcasting license, despite ongoing disputes over outstanding payments and penalties.
Tomasz Sakiewicz, the president of TV Republika, announced on social media that the station has fulfilled its financial obligations for this year's broadcasting license by paying all installments. He confirmed to 'Presserwis' that the remaining part of the annual fee for terrestrial broadcasting has been settled as per their previous commitment. This includes a total payment due by August that was originally expected to be paid in full by September 1, 2025. Additionally, TV Republika reportedly managed to pay a prolongation fee of 129,000 PLN that was previously owed.
However, 'Gazeta Wyborcza' has raised concerns regarding the station's actual compliance, suggesting there are still unresolved issues with its financial obligations. According to their reporting, while over 200,000 PLN had been transferred to the National Broadcasting Council, it appears that TV Republika still owes more than 200,000 PLN in fees, alongside interest payments. These discrepancies could potentially escalate into legal matters, leading Sakiewicz to state that he will file a formal complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding the situation.
The ongoing issues surrounding TV Republika's broadcasting license payments indicate a tense situation for the station and its management. This case not only reflects the financial struggles faced by media outlets in Poland but also hints at broader regulatory challenges. As debates over compliance with broadcasting regulations intensify, the implications for TV Republika and its future operations could be significant, especially if legal actions ensue due to these alleged discrepancies in payments and penalties.
