The Agricultural Chamber has a new leader - for the first time in its history, a woman has been elected as chairperson
The Agricultural Chamber of Lithuania has appointed its first-ever female chairperson, marking a historic moment for the organization.
The Agricultural Chamber of Lithuania (ŽŪR) has made a significant change in leadership by electing its first female chairperson, a momentous occasion in the organization's history. This new appointment underscores a progressive approach towards gender representation in leadership roles within agricultural organizations. The newly-elected chairperson has begun to assemble her team by proposing and confirming the appointments of Vytenis Griga from the Lithuanian Union of Young Farmers and Youth Associations, and Andžej Kulevičius from the Šalčininkai Region Farmers' Association, as vice chairpersons.
The elections saw participation from notable figures in the Lithuanian agricultural sector, including Mindaugas Maciulevičius from the Lithuanian Cooperative Association "Cooperative Path" and Saulius Daniulis, leader of the Lithuanian Ecological Farming Association. The gathering also provided an opportunity to express gratitude to the outgoing leadership, particularly Arūnas Svitojus, who held the chair position for eight years across two terms, along with vice-chairpersons Vytautas Buivydas and Algis Baravykas, for their service to the organization.
This leadership change not only enhances gender diversity within the Agricultural Chamber but also reflects a broader shift towards inclusivity within the agricultural sector in Lithuania. With a fresh team leading the charge, there are expectations for new initiatives and policies that could potentially reshape the landscape of Lithuanian agriculture, bringing it in line with modern agricultural practices and the needs of young farmers.
