In a worrying incident in Formiga, Brazil, an 80-year-old woman was discovered by the Corpo de Bombeiros after being reported missing for more than 24 hours. She was found lying on a mattress and wrapped in blankets in a forested area known as Fazenda Velha. Although she was conscious upon discovery, the elderly woman exhibited confusion and complained of lower back pain and a severe sensation of cold, raising immediate concerns for her health.

Medical evaluations revealed signs compatible with hypothermia, as her body temperature had dropped significantly, leading to reduced oxygen saturation levels. Hypothermia, a potentially life-threatening condition, arises when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, with symptoms ranging from shivering to confusion and lethargy. The timely response by the first responders included providing supplemental oxygen and initiating stabilization and warming measures right at the scene.
