Operation by PM and PF arrests 17 fugitives of feminicide, homicide, rape, and trafficking in MG and ES
A joint operation by Brazilian law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of 17 fugitives wanted for serious crimes in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.
A significant law enforcement operation, dubbed Operation Rio Grande, was executed jointly by the Federal Police and the Military Police of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, resulting in the capture of 17 fugitives on Wednesday, September 25. The operation was strategically focused on 11 cities across the two states, targeting suspects who were wanted for grave offenses including qualified homicide, vulnerable person rape, rape against women, drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, and domestic violence.
The arrested individuals were located in cities such as Manhuaçu, Mutum, Simonésia, and several others, reflecting a coordinated effort to apprehend those evading justice. The Federal Police have highlighted that this operation was managed by the newly established Regional Coordination of Captures in Minas Gerais, which aims to enhance the integration of information from various units within the state to effectively tackle crime and ensure public safety.
This crackdown comes at a critical time as Brazil continues to combat rising rates of violent crime, especially concerning marginalized groups. The collaborative effort between different police forces illustrates a commitment to improving law enforcement efficiency and addressing serious crimes that affect community safety, particularly against vulnerable populations.
