Operation against group linked to the death of sergeant in MG already totals 28 arrested and four dead

A large-scale security operation in Campo Belo, Minas Gerais, has seen the arrest of 28 individuals following the murder of 40-year-old Sergeant Rodrigo Silva Pereira. The most recent phase of this operation, named OperaΓ§Γ£o Legado, occurred on Wednesday morning, leading to 14 additional arrests, including three in the act of committing crimes. This phase of the operation involved a significant mobilization of law enforcement, with 492 personnel, 117 vehicles, and two aircraft taking part in the efforts to dismantle the criminal network linked to drug trafficking in the area.
According to the Civil Police, the investigation revealed that the homicide was orchestrated by members of an organized crime group that operates in Campo Belo and nearby cities. In total, law enforcement has executed 69 search and seizure warrants during the operation, reflecting the serious nature of the investigation. So far, prior to this recent sweep, 14 individuals had already been arrested, including minors, underscoring the pervasive influence of organized crime in the region.
