Sayf and Samurai Jay on top: the social rankings
While overall audience ratings for the second evening of the Festival show a decline, the social media accounts of competitors continue to thrive with increased interactions and followers.
The second evening of the Festival saw a decline in total audience ratings, decreasing from 11.41 million to 8.81 million viewers, resulting in a drop from 64.1% to 59% market share. Despite this diminishing viewership, the digital presence of participating artists has been on the rise, highlighting a growing interest in the performances through social media channels. Particularly notable is the trend of artists gaining followers on platforms like Instagram as they compete in the Festival.
In terms of new Instagram followers, Sayf, who performs the song "Tu mi piaci tanto," and Samurai Jay with his song "Ossessione," have emerged as frontrunners. Sayf's account witnessed an impressive increase of 55,000 followers following the first two evenings of competition, while Samurai Jay's following grew by 45,000. Their success emphasizes the synergy between rap music and social media engagement, which is resonating with audiences, particularly younger demographics.
Another artist making waves is Margherita Carducci, known as Ditonellapiaga, who similarly represents the Gen Z cohort. Her social media presence is also growing, reinforcing the idea that contemporary music, especially within the rap genre, is becoming increasingly intertwined with digital platforms and audience interaction. This pattern indicates a shift in how music consumption and artist promotion occur in the digital age, suggesting that social media might play a pivotal role in future music events and artist success.
