Plaza Wednesday Thrives
Grupo La Comer reported a 9.5% increase in revenue for Q4 2025, driven by promotional campaigns and regional performance.
Grupo La Comer, led by Hector de la Barreda, has seen a remarkable 9.5% rise in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2025, reaching 12,503 million pesos. This growth has been spurred by marketing campaigns such as 'Buen Fin' and 'Olá Olé', alongside the chain's successful 'Miércoles de Plaza', which has effectively boosted sales particularly in perishable goods. The chain's strategic focus on promotions for products from Spain and Portugal has also played a significant role in enhancing customer engagement.
Regionally, the northern stores experienced the highest revenue increases, and the food and perishables categories emerged as the best-performing segments. The operational cash flow surged by 18.4% to 1,110 million pesos, despite an extraordinary expense of 130 million pesos related to an asset impairment in Mexico City. This financial performance indicates a solid response to market conditions and consumer demand, positioning Grupo La Comer favorably in a competitive retail environment.
Even with rising costs in labor, packaging, and systems, La Comer achieved a net profit growth of 24.1%, totaling 506 million pesos. This financial success not only reinforces the company's standing in the self-service sector but also underscores its resilience in managing operational challenges effectively. Such results indicate promising prospects for further expansion and diversification in the retail market in Mexico.
