The Lyrical Goes to School!

A new educational program called 'The Lyrical Goes to School!' has been launched by the Greek National Opera aimed at introducing elementary school students in the Attica region to the world of opera.

The Greek National Opera has initiated a dynamic and enthusiastically received educational program named 'The Lyrical Goes to School!', which is being piloted for the first time by its Educational and Social Actions department. This program aims to enhance communication between the opera and the school community, targeting elementary schools in the Attica region and striving to immerse children in the world of opera through a structured, experiential journey lasting five months.

Six classes are participating in the inaugural phase, with a variety of activities occurring simultaneously across the six selected schools. This initiative provides students with opportunities to engage with opera in a creative and participatory manner, fostering collaboration, imagination, and active engagement among children. The program's launch was coordinated across all six schools with different starting points for the various activities planned.

Students from the 106th Elementary School of Athens, the 2nd Primary School of Moschato, and others will partake in the program, which aims not only to introduce them to the art form of opera but also to inspire a sense of creativity and cooperation among their peers. This innovative approach is expected to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the arts within the young participants, potentially shaping future audiences for the opera scene in Greece.
