Municipal Theatre of Piraeus: Educational program for students with theatre, cinema, and digital media
The Municipal Theatre of Piraeus is launching an innovative educational program for high school students to explore theatre, cinema, and digital media through the theme of motherhood in Greek folk tradition.
The Municipal Theatre of Piraeus is initiating a unique educational program titled "Greek Folk Culture on the Stage of Our Digital World," designed for middle and high school students in the Piraeus and Attica regions. The program invites students from all grades of secondary education to collaborate in creating an original multimedia artwork. This year's thematic focus will explore the concept of motherhood as depicted in Greek folk traditions, encouraging creativity and cultural engagement among young participants.
Students will engage with classical and folk texts, such as Papadiamantis' "The Murderess" and the folktale "Sun, Morning Star, and the Lizard," to investigate various aspects of motherhood. This initiative aims not only to familiarize students with the arts but also to foster a deeper understanding of cultural narratives and their relevance in today's digital age. By blending traditional storytelling with modern digital formats, the students will co-create a project that bridges the gap between history and contemporary interpretation.
The open call from the Municipal Theatre emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and cultural heritage, providing students an opportunity to express their artistic insights while tackling meaningful themes. This program not only serves as an enriching educational experience but also as a platform for young people to connect with their cultural roots and interact with peers through the artistic process.
