Understand what led to the dismissal of the deputy secretary of SPTuris; company linked to ex-partner had contracts worth R$ 229 million with the state-owned company

Now-former deputy secretary of Tourism in São Paulo, Rodolfo Marinho, was dismissed amid an investigation into million-dollar contracts involving a company linked to his former partner.

Rodolfo Marinho, the deputy secretary of Tourism in São Paulo, was dismissed by Mayor Ricardo Nunes following an investigation into lucrative contracts between SPTuris and a company called MM Quarter Produções e Eventos. The company, allegedly linked to Marinho's former business partner, Nathalia Carolina da Silva Souza, has drawn scrutiny due to the scale of its contracts with the state agency, which amounted to R$ 229 million.

These dismissals came in the wake of reports published by Metrópoles, which raised concerns over potential misconduct related to the contracting process. Mayor Nunes initiated the investigation through the Controladoria Geral do Município (CGM), reflecting the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability in public contracts, particularly those that involve substantial sums of money.

In addition to Marinho’s dismissal, Colonel Salles has been appointed as the new president of SPTuris, replacing Gustavo Pires. This shift in leadership signals a possible restructuring within the agency as it seeks to address allegations and restore public trust in the management of tourism in São Paulo, especially with the upcoming Carnaval celebrations on the horizon.
