Nunes dismisses deputy secretary of Tourism and president of SPTuris after complaint involving ex-partner with million-dollar contracts in the state-owned company
São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes has dismissed officials amidst an investigation into connections with a company holding substantial contracts.
São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes announced the dismissals of Rodolfo Marinho da Silva, the deputy secretary of Tourism, and Gustavo Pires, the president of SPTuris, amid an ongoing investigation by the Municipal Comptroller's Office. The investigations were prompted by allegations concerning Marinho's ties to MM Quarter, a company reportedly holding over R$ 229 million in contracts with SPTuris. The allegations were first reported by the news portal Metrópoles.
In a video statement, Nunes revealed that he authorized the inquiry into Marinho's relationship with MM Quarter last Friday. Notably, the company is owned by Nathália Carolina de Souza Silva, who was previously a partner with Marinho in a political consulting firm. The timing of Silva's departure from the partnership, occurring just days before Marinho's appointment, raises further questions about the propriety of public contracts and potential conflicts of interest in government engagements.
As a part of the administrative reshuffle following these events, Colonel Salles has been announced as the new president of SPTuris. This decision comes as part of the broader effort to ensure transparency and integrity within the municipality’s tourism sector, especially given the significant sums involved and the importance of public trust in government dealings with private enterprises.
