Otti flags off reconstruction of Enyimba Hotel in Aba
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has launched the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel in Aba, rebranded as Radisson Blu Enyimba International Hotel, signaling economic revival for the region.
On Wednesday, Abia State Governor Alex Otti inaugurated the reconstruction of the Enyimba Hotel, which has been long-neglected and is now being revitalized as the Radisson Blu Enyimba International Hotel. During the ceremony, Governor Otti emphasized that this project is pivotal for the resurgence of Aba, positioning it once again as a leading commercial hub in West Africa. He quoted, 'This evening, the phoenix arises. Abia is back. Enyimba is rising,' underscoring the symbolic importance of this hotel project for the community.
Governor Otti also reflected on the historical significance of the project, noting that the vision of the Enyimba Hotel dates back to 1972 when it was first conceived by then-East Central State Administrator Anthony Ukpabi Asika. Otti highlighted the hotel as a representation of hope and economic revival, a response to the aftermath of the civil war that had deeply affected the region. He criticized the previous neglect of the site, calling it a symbol of 'stalled dreams' that his administration aims to change.
The governor expressed confidence in the timely execution of the project, reinforcing that once the government publicly commits to a project, it is essential that it is completed for public use as scheduled. The first phase of the reconstruction signifies not just architectural revival but also a broader effort to stimulate economic activities and social rejuvenation within Aba, aligning with the governor's vision for a prosperous future for the state.
