Detro Operation Inspects Over 50 Intercity Buses and Vans in Petrópolis and Teresópolis
An operation by Detro inspected over 50 intercity buses and vans in the cities of Petrópolis and Teresópolis, resulting in several infractions and vehicle seizures.
On Tuesday, over 50 intercity buses and vans were inspected as part of the "Detro pelo Estado" operation in Petrópolis and Teresópolis, regions known for their high passenger and tourist traffic. The operation was led by the Department of Road Transport of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Detro-RJ), aiming to enhance control over intercity transportation, which is crucial in areas frequented by both residents and visitors.
The operation resulted in 19 fines being issued and seven vehicles being towed due to irregularities, highlighting ongoing compliance issues in the transport sector. Inspections took place at key access points to the municipalities, including the Leonel Brizola Terminal in Petrópolis and the bus station in Teresópolis. The initiative not only targeted regular bus lines and complementary transport vans but also focused on cracking down on illegal transportation services.
To bolster efficiency, part of the monitoring was conducted remotely with the aid of GPS technology, demonstrating the use of modern tools in public transport surveillance. This initiative reflects a broader commitment by local authorities to ensure safety and legality in intercity transport services, thereby improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
