In August 2024, a well-planned robbery took place in an apartment located on Avenida Henrique Dumont in Ipanema, a wealthy district of Rio de Janeiro. The target was an elderly resident who was out on a walk with their caregiver at the time. The crime was executed by a gang associated with Eduardo Lima Franco, known in criminal circles as Dudu, who has been previously identified by the police as the leader of a group specializing in high-end residential break-ins and ATM explosions. The gang was reportedly well-informed about the victim's routine and the precise location of the apartment's safe.
