The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State apprehended 12 individuals believed to be illegal immigrants from Mali. The arrests occurred in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, following a tip-off from local residents about suspicious activities. The operation took place on February 22, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal immigration and enhance public safety in the region.

The suspects, ranging in age from 20 to 43 years, were found living together in a two-bedroom apartment that was rented under questionable circumstances. This situation raised alarms among the community, prompting them to report it to authorities. In addition to the arrests, the NSCDC recovered several items during their operation, including nine mobile phones, two international passports, identification cards, a wristwatch, keys, and cash, underscoring the potential illicit activities these individuals may have been involved in.
