Former MEP and Finnish parliament member Silvia Modig has taken on the role of Executive Director at the Luontoliitto (Nature League).

Silvia Modig, a former Member of the European Parliament and Finnish parliament member, has begun her new position as Executive Director of Luontoliitto, an organization committed to youth engagement and environmental issues. Modig, at 49, brings years of experience in organizational leadership as acknowledged by Luontoliitto, which celebrates her commitment to fostering active citizenship among the youth and strengthening their connection with nature. She expresses her joy in working for the betterment of children, youth, and the environment, showcasing her passion for these causes.

In her public statements, Modig shares her interests, which include football, community activities, and spending time outdoors. She humorously adds that she is also an enthusiastic allotment gardener with a strong passion for composting. Such personal insights help to illustrate her commitment to not just her professional role but also to community and environmental engagement.

Modig's political career includes serving in the Finnish parliament from 2011 to 2019 and in the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024, though she did not run for re-election in the upcoming summer 2024 Euro elections. Currently, she also serves as a city councilor in Helsinki. Luontoliitto, founded in 1943, is a youth organization under the Finnish Nature Conservation Association, highlighting its longstanding commitment to environmental advocacy and education.
