Video: individuals investigated for car break-ins are caught in the act in Teresina

Three men were caught in the act trying to steal from a car in Teresina, Brazil, and have been under investigation for similar crimes.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 25, three men identified by their initials F.R.C.S., S.W.A.S., and G.P.D. were caught in the act while attempting to steal items from a parked car on Avenida João XXIII, located in the East Zone of Teresina. According to the Civil Police, the trio had been monitored by the Criminal Operations and Investigations Superintendence (GOIC) and the Metropolitan Police Department (DPM) prior to their arrest. A video recorded by the police shows them trying to break into the vehicle, leading to their immediate apprehension.

Igor Alves, the manager of Criminal Operations and Investigations at the SSP, provided details stating that the suspects were already under investigation for their involvement in similar break-ins around shopping centers, banks, stores, and supermarkets. This group had reportedly been under surveillance by the DPM since late last year, during which they had been observed using screwdrivers to unlock vehicles and steal various items from them.

The swift response by the police highlights ongoing efforts to address car theft in the region, particularly targeting organized groups known for such crimes. The judicial follow-up of this case may lead to potential sentences, contributing to enhanced public security in Teresina as law enforcement continues to crack down on burglaries and related offenses.
