Horrifying Experiences: People Trapped for Hours in the World’s Tallest TV Tower, Tunnel, and Lufthansa Plane
Twenty people were trapped for hours in an elevator at the Tokyo Skytree due to a malfunction.
On Sunday evening, 20 individuals found themselves stuck in an elevator at the Tokyo Skytree, the tallest television tower in the world, with a height of 634 meters and an observation deck located 350 meters above ground. The incident involved the 'Autumn' and 'Winter' elevators, which had just started transporting passengers when they unexpectedly halted about 30 meters above ground. As a result, 18 adults and 2 children aboard the Winter elevator were left stranded and awaiting rescue.
Rescue operations took several hours, culminating in the passengers being freed around 2 AM via a side door of the elevator. The process required them to step across a metal plate into a secondary lift, which took significant effort and time due to the precarious position of the primary elevator. This incident raised concerns about safety protocols in high-rise structures, emphasizing the need for efficient evacuation procedures in case of malfunctions at such heights.
Despite the stressful ordeal, media reports indicated that the elevators are equipped with emergency supplies, including water and a portable toilet, which likely eased the discomfort of those trapped. The incident underscores the importance of safety measures in not just the Tokyo Skytree but in other high-rise buildings around the world, as similar malfunctions can present serious challenges for rescue efforts.
