Five Hours of Rescue after Being Trapped in Skytree Elevator

On the night of the 22nd, twenty people became trapped in an elevator at Tokyo Skytree, leading to a rescue operation that lasted over five hours.

On the evening of the 22nd, an elevator at the Tokyo Skytree, which stands at 634 meters in Sumida, Tokyo, experienced a sudden malfunction and stopped abruptly, leaving 20 people, including two children, trapped inside. The trouble began around 8:15 PM when two of the four elevators, named 'Autumn' and 'Winter', halted due to an alarm. The other two elevators were subsequently stopped for safety checks, causing a temporary logjam that affected about 1,200 visitors remaining on the observation deck. Fortunately, the trapped elevator was equipped with emergency supplies, including a portable toilet and water, which aided the people inside during the lengthy ordeal.
