Campaign for Name and Gender Rectification for Trans Individuals is Open for Registration in Ceará
The Judiciary of Ceará has opened registrations for the 'My Name, My Story' campaign to rectify the names and genders of transgender individuals.
The Judiciary of Ceará is currently accepting registrations for its initiative named 'Meu Nome, Minha História' (My Name, My Story), which aims to facilitate the legal rectification of names and genders for transgender individuals. This campaign is particularly relevant for those who are 18 years and older and possess a birth certificate from one of the eligible municipalities involved in the program. Participants need to register through an online form provided by the Judiciary and present a set of documents during the campaign event.
Once registered, individuals are required to visit the Office of Legal Practice at the University of Fortaleza in Fortaleza, where they will provide necessary documents including a copy of their CPF, birth certificate, voter ID, RG, proof of residency, and possibly other identification such as a Brazilian passport. This effort reflects a growing recognition of the rights of transgender individuals in Brazil and aims to streamline the often complicated legal process of changing one's name and gender in official documents.
The initiative not only aims to simplify the legal procedures for transgender people's identity recognition but also serves to raise awareness regarding the challenges faced by this community. By enabling easier access to name and gender rectification, the campaign fosters a more inclusive environment for transgender individuals in Ceará, addressing a significant aspect of their social and legal acceptance within Brazilian society.
