Detran opens registrations for Popular CNH aimed at the LGBTI+ public in Ceará; see how to participate

The Detran of Ceará has opened registrations for the Popular CNH program aimed at the LGBTI+ community, offering 150 spots for first-time drivers.

On Thursday, the Department of Traffic of Ceará (Detran-CE) announced the opening of registrations for its Popular CNH program, specially designed for the LGBTI+ community. A total of 150 spots are available for individuals applying for their first driver's license in categories A (motorcycle) or B (car). This initiative particularly targets people who are registered in CadÚnico and aims to promote inclusivity within the community by providing a vital resource for mobility and job opportunities.

To participate, interested individuals must register through the official Detran-CE website. The required documentation includes RG (identity card), CPF (tax identification number), proof of residence, and a declaration of service from the Thina Rodrigues State Reference Center for LGBT, which is connected to the Diversity Secretariat (Sediv). This requirement ensures that support is provided to applicants and acknowledges their identity within the recognized social frameworks.

Waldemir Catanho, the superintendent of Detran-CE, emphasized the significance of obtaining a driver's license through this program, stating that it greatly increases job prospects and helps generate more income for residents of Ceará. This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Government of Ceará to enhance social inclusion and provide equal opportunities for marginalized communities, reflecting a commitment to diversity and recognition of minority rights in the region.
