Is the Goyang Arena Delayed Again? Residents Protest After 10 Years of Standstill at K-Culture Valley
The Goyang Arena project, a centerpiece of the K-Culture Valley, faces renewed community backlash after its timeline was pushed back once more.
The Goyang Arena, which is critical to the K-Culture Valley development project, has encountered another delay, reigniting community protests against continued setbacks. On the 23rd of the month, a citizens' group named 'Goyang Arena Revitalization Citizen Group' staged a demonstration in front of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building, where they set up over 50 wreaths as a sign of mourning for the project's stalled progress. The group expressed their dissatisfaction with the prolonged delays, calling for an immediate resumption of construction and accountability from Gyeonggi Province to ensure the project's completion. They argue that the decade-long stagnation has undermined expectations for regional economic revitalization, questioning the feasibility of the newly proposed completion date in 2030.
