Two attempts were made to smuggle mobile phones and SIM cards into Marijampolė prison in Lithuania.
On Tuesday evening, a guard at Marijampolė prison reported finding three packages near the security checkpoints containing six mobile phones and five SIM cards. This discovery raised security concerns regarding the smuggling of prohibited items in the facility.
The following day, Wednesday morning, another officer conducting a routine inspection of the restricted area found two additional packages that contained seven mobile phones and five SIM cards. These incidents indicate a troubling trend where attempts to introduce contraband into the prison are occurring frequently, posing risks to both prison security and management.
As a result of these two attempts, authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
