Samyook University Receives Full Certification in Education Internationalization Competency for 'Degree and Language Study' Programs
Samyook University has achieved full certification in both degree and language study programs under the '2025 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System' evaluated by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Justice in South Korea.
Samyook University has successfully received certification for both its degree programs and language study courses as part of the '2025 Education Internationalization Competency Certification System' (IEQAS) overseen by the South Korean Ministry of Education and Ministry of Justice. This certification, valid from March 2023 through February 2030, recognizes the university's comprehensive capabilities in attracting and managing international students, evaluating factors such as international infrastructure, selection and management systems for foreign students, and overall academic and living support systems.
Being certified under IEQAS allows Samyook University to benefit from various governmental policies intended to facilitate international education, including the easing of visa application processes for foreign students, preferential selection for government scholarship programs, and advantages in participating in international education fairs. The university is connecting this internationalization strategy to its medium- to long-term development plan, 'SU-GLORY Plan 2030', which focuses on developing international campus infrastructure, strengthening support for international students, and diversifying the nationalities of students enrolled. The school aims to integrate government evaluation criteria with its operational policies effectively.
As of April 1 of last year, Samyook University has attracted 524 international students from 33 different countries, reflecting an approximately 14% increase from the previous year, with a notable shift towards regular degree programs as opposed to language training. The demographic of foreign students is also diversifying, expanding from predominantly Asian backgrounds to include students from Africa, Latin America, and Europe. The university is enhancing its language courses by implementing a holistic educational model that integrates Korean language and culture, and it is focused on improving prospects for academic adaptation and communication skills among prospective students. Overall, the advancements made in teaching quality, resource standardization, and comprehensive support systems signify a strategic move towards establishing Samyook University as a significant player in the international education sector.
