This decision comes in light of a ruling by the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJ-MG), which declared that there was no crime based on the reasoning that the relationship between the man and the girl was consensual and familial in nature. The judges involved in the case, Magid Nauef Lauar and Walner Milward Azevedo, supported their decision with the belief that the girl was part of a family structure that involved an affectionate bond with the accused, thus negating the crime of sexual abuse.
