Half of Britons avoid calling GP when they are ill, survey finds

A new survey conducted by Ipsos for the Health Foundation has revealed that nearly half (48%) of the UK population refrains from contacting their GP when they fall ill, primarily due to concerns about the difficulty of securing an appointment. This trend is alarming as it indicates a growing public reluctance to seek professional medical help, which could exacerbate health issues. More than a quarter of respondents (27%) reported managing their illnesses independently or waiting for the ailments to resolve on their own, despite warnings from medical professionals regarding the potential dangers of delaying care.
