Law Professor Accused of Rape and Other Crimes Against 10 Women in RS

A law professor in Rio Grande do Sul has been accused of multiple sexual offenses against ten women, including rape and psychological violence, following a comprehensive investigation.

The Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul has filed charges against law professor Conrado Paulino da Rosa for allegedly committing twelve crimes against ten women, including rape, rape of a vulnerable person, psychological violence, and unlawful confinement. The accusations stem from incidents reported to have occurred between 2013 and 2025, with the attorney confirming that they have yet to receive access to the details of the charges. The defense indicated they will respond once they have received this information.

The investigation took three months and included testimonies from 18 victims and 16 witnesses, along with forensic examinations and documented evidence. The charges were based on a thorough inquiry that identified 24 instances where the accused allegedly perpetrated sexual offenses. Four women who claim to have been victims of Conrado provided interviews to local media, adding personal accounts to the unfolding story. This evidence has significantly contributed to the case against him by highlighting the breadth and severity of the alleged misconduct.

In a related development, on October 22, the court revoked Conrado's temporary detention, just two days before the expiration of his detention period, after he had been incarcerated since October 26 of the previous year. This decision raises questions about the legal process and whether the measures currently in place are sufficient to protect potential victims in ongoing investigations. As the case continues to develop, it remains crucial to monitor how judicial decisions reflect on the broader issues of sexual violence and accountability in academic environments.
