Intercity Train: SP authorizes second batch of expropriations in the Campinas region
The São Paulo government has authorized a second batch of area expropriations between Campinas and Jundiaí for the implementation of the Intercity Train (TIC) project.
The São Paulo government has made a significant move towards the execution of the Intercity Train (TIC) project by authorizing the second batch of area expropriations between the cities of Campinas and Jundiaí. This decision was published in the State’s Official Diary and involves 16 areas declared of public utility, totaling 27 thousand square meters. These areas, which are crucial for the train project, are located close to the existing railway lines in the municipalities of Valinhos, Louveira, and Jundiaí.
The expropriations will be carried out by the concessionaire TIC Trens, which is responsible for the project’s implementation. This company will bear all costs associated with the expropriations and compensations to property owners, based on the extent of the land affected and any agreements reached. According to the documentation, signed by the Secretary of Partnerships and Investments, these expropriations may take place through amicable or judicial means, with the possibility of the concessionaire seeking urgency in judicial processes if necessary.
As the TIC project progresses, it holds substantial implications for regional connectivity and economic development, as it aims to enhance travel between Campinas and São Paulo. This infrastructure development is expected to improve accessibility and promote growth in the areas surrounding the train line, ultimately facilitating better transport links and potentially reducing traffic congestion in the highly urbanized region.
