An 84-year-old man, José Evangelista Cordeiro, passed away due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident on MG-290 in Borda da Mata, Minas Gerais, on October 24. The incident occurred on October 20, when Cordeiro's vehicle collided with a truck while he was driving. The collision was recorded by a nearby security camera, which captured the moment of impact at kilometer 28 of the highway. The truck, driven by a 43-year-old man, was traveling on the road when the driver reported seeing Cordeiro’s car pulling out from a fuel station. The truck driver honked and attempted to steer clear of the car, but due to the truck's heavy load, a collision was unavoidable. The severity of the impact resulted in Cordeiro being trapped in the wreckage of his car, necessitating a rescue by firefighters and medical personnel from the local emergency service (Samu). In addition to Cordeiro, another elderly passenger, aged 80, was injured in the accident and required extraction from the vehicle. This tragic event highlights the dangers of road travel and the critical need for safe driving practices, especially in areas with high traffic and heavy vehicles. The ongoing investigation by the local authorities aims to determine the full circumstances leading to this unfortunate accident.
