Drug Trafficking in Galatsi with the Cover of an Air Conditioning Store – A 46-Year-Old Man Arrested

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in Galatsi, Greece, for organizing a drug trafficking network disguised as an air conditioning business.

Authorities in Galatsi, Greece, have arrested a 46-year-old man who allegedly orchestrated a significant drug trafficking network under the guise of an air conditioning sales and installation business. Investigations revealed that the drugs were carefully hidden inside the air conditioning units, allowing for undisrupted transportation using his professional van. To evade detection, he reportedly employed a lead vehicle to monitor the route and maintained constant communication via radios to avoid police checks and alter course when necessary.

Following a period of discreet surveillance, police from the DIAS team 105-2, in coordination with the Saint Panteleimon security department, conducted searches at both the air conditioning business and the suspect's vehicle. During these operations, they uncovered 6.9 kilograms of raw cannabis, €3,050 in cash, and four radios. The arrested individual is facing serious charges related to drug trafficking and could face substantial legal consequences due to the quantity of narcotics found.

This case highlights ongoing issues with drug trafficking in urban Greek areas, where traffickers often disguise their operations within legitimate businesses to evade law enforcement. The use of sophisticated methods to transport illegal substances poses significant challenges to police efforts to combat drug-related crimes. This incident not only raises concerns about public safety but also underscores the need for increased vigilance in monitoring suspicious activities in local businesses.
