TCE of Paraná asks the Security Secretariat to explain R$ 438.7 million contract

The TCE-PR has requested an explanation from the Paraná Security Secretariat regarding a significant contract worth R$ 438.7 million with Celepar amid ongoing privatization disputes.

The Court of Accounts of Paraná (TCE-PR) has mandated that the Paraná Public Security Secretariat provide an explanation about a hefty contract worth R$ 438,706,992.08 signed with Celepar, the state's Technology and Information Company. The demand comes against the backdrop of the state government’s ongoing legal battle over the privatization of Celepar, despite having entered into this substantial agreement.

This situation has escalated as the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Flávio Dino issued a suspension of the privatization process, citing the importance of ensuring safety and proper management of the sensitive data associated with the Security Secretariat's registrations. The concerns have been raised in light of the General Data Protection Law, which is applicable at the federal level. The request for this judicial intervention was initiated by the leftist parties PT and PSOL, highlighting the political tensions surrounding the issue.

In addition to the initial contract with Celepar, the TCE is inquiring about the state of administrative processes related to the hiring of Serpro (Federal Data Processing Service) for managing the data of individuals registered with the Security Secretariat. This scrutiny emphasizes the need for accountability and transparency in the management of contracts that hold significant implications for public safety and data protection in Paraná.
