Strong jump in agro-industrial exports: in January they rose 17.6% and surpassed US$ 4 billion

In January, agro-industrial exports from Argentina saw a significant increase of 17.6% year-on-year, reaching over US$ 4 billion, largely driven by record shipments of wheat, barley, and sunflower.

January marked a remarkable month for Argentina's agro-industrial sector, with exports soaring by 17.6% compared to the previous year, totaling US$ 4.088 billion. This growth can be attributed to notable increases in wheat, barley, and sunflower shipments, as reported by the Argentine Agroindustrial Council (CAA). The month featured the largest wheat harvest in history, amounting to 27.8 million tons, coupled with the highest barley harvest in the last decade, both contributing to the record-breaking figures.

Wheat, now the second-largest export complex in the sector, experienced an impressive 82.7% increase, bringing in US$ 834.9 million for January. Barley exports also rose significantly, recording a 69.4% jump year-on-year to reach US$ 307.9 million. These figures indicate a flourishing agro-industrial landscape in Argentina, inviting attention to the sector’s potential growth and sustainability in the global market.

The robust performance of agro-industrial exports not only highlights Argentina's agricultural prowess but also has implications for the nation’s economy as it seeks to capitalize on its agricultural exports. As the global demand for food and agricultural products strengthens, Argentina's ability to maintain this upward trajectory in exports will be crucial for the country's economic recovery and growth in the coming months.
