Procon Maceió conducts research on the basic food basket, highlighting price variations; see which items
Procon Maceió has released a report detailing significant price variations in staple food items, urging consumers to compare prices before purchasing.
On February 24, Procon Maceió published findings from a survey highlighting substantial price variations among essential grocery items in the city's supermarkets and hypermarkets. The research focused on 17 basic products and included striking differences in prices for beef, eggs, and butter, which are crucial components of the local diet. For instance, the price of beef ranged from R$ 32.99 to R$ 59.90 per kilogram, while 30 eggs cost between R$ 21 and R$ 29.90, and butter varied from R$ 4.69 to R$ 18.90 for 250 grams.
The survey aimed to inform consumers about these price discrepancies and to encourage greater competition among local retailers. Alongside the major items, other products like corn flour, margarine, and liquid milk also showed considerable price differences, indicating the importance of monitoring local prices to ensure better purchasing decisions. This initiative emphasizes the necessity of price comparison, particularly in times of inflation, which can significantly impact household budgets.
Overall, the report serves as a critical resource for consumers in Maceió, equipping them with the information needed to make informed purchasing choices. By raising awareness of these price variations, Procon Maceió aims to foster a more competitive marketplace that benefits consumers, ultimately improving the economic landscape for all residents.
