Disney has appointed Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman as the head of original content for Disney+ in Latin America.
The Walt Disney Company has announced the appointment of Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman as the head of original content for Disney+ in Latin America, effective March 25. This new role, created specifically for Burman, places him in charge of leading Disney's original production strategy in the region, ensuring it aligns with the company's global content guidelines. Burman will report directly to Eric Schrier, the president of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, collaborating closely with MartΓn Iraola, president of the company in Latin America.
Burman, who has an international career as a director, producer, and screenwriter, boasts four nominations for the International Emmy. In his new position, he is tasked with identifying stories that hold regional significance and have the potential for global distribution, contributing to a broader visibility of Latin American narratives within Disney's worldwide catalog. This appointment reflects Disney's commitment to enhancing its content diversity and representation of Latino stories in the streaming service.
Before joining Disney, Burman was associated with The Mediapro Studio since 2017, where he developed and directed various projects for streaming platforms. His extensive experience and creative vision are expected to play a pivotal role in enriching the original content available to Latin American audiences on Disney+. This strategic move also highlights Disney's focus on regional storytelling, which is increasingly vital in the competitive streaming market.
