Fire Department: Reception of 5 modern speedboats – Their technical characteristics

The Fire Department of Greece has acquired five modern RAFNAR FIFI 45 speedboats, enhancing its capabilities in marine firefighting and rescue operations.

The Greek Fire Department has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of five advanced RAFNAR FIFI 45 speedboats, which are designed for quick intervention in firefighting and rescue efforts at sea. This initiative is financially supported by the European Investment Bank through the Public Investment Program, reflecting a commitment to improving public safety and emergency response capabilities in Greece.

These speedboats feature a length of 12 meters and can reach maximum speeds of 50 knots, allowing for faster and more efficient responses in emergency situations. With a range exceeding 250 nautical miles and powered by three outboard diesel engines capable of delivering a total of 1,050 horsepower, these boats are engineered for high performance. Their significant power-to-weight ratio enables excellent acceleration, enhanced maneuverability, and stability during operations.

Constructed from reinforced composite materials, the new vessels are designed to operate safely under challenging conditions, including waves of up to four meters and winds of up to eight Beaufort. This development marks a significant upgrade in the capabilities of Greece's firefighting fleet, showcasing the country's investment in modern technology to better address maritime emergencies.
