União Brasil negotiates Pablo Marçal's affiliation to run for Senate in SP
União Brasil is negotiating to affiliate influencer and coach Pablo Marçal, currently from PRTB, to run for the Senate in São Paulo's upcoming elections.
União Brasil is currently in negotiations to bring Pablo Marçal, a well-known influencer and coach, into their party as a candidate for the Senate in São Paulo for the forthcoming elections set for October. Marçal, who previously contested the mayoral race in São Paulo in 2024, is currently ineligible due to a sanction from the Electoral Court. However, União Brasil is optimistic about potentially overturning this decision through legal means to enable him to run with a court injunction.
The party aims for Marçal to form a coalition with Guilherme Derrite from the Progressive Party (PP) for their Senate bid. Both parties have established a federation, which is strategically significant for their electoral planning, as they hope to maximize their chances of winning Senate seats through collaboration. Yet, this plan is not without its challenges; support from the state governor, Tarcísio de Freitas of the Republicans, is crucial, and he has expressed reservations about Marçal's candidacy based on previous municipal election experiences.
If the arrangement with Derrite does not materialize, another option on the table is to present Marçal as an independent candidate for one of the Senate vacancies. This flexibility indicates that União Brasil is committed to incorporating Marçal into their strategy, regardless of the hurdles they might face in the political landscape of São Paulo ahead of the elections.
