Auction of Rota Mogiana, in the interior of São Paulo, receives four proposals

The São Paulo government has received four proposals for the auction of Rota Mogiana, set to take place this Friday.

The government of São Paulo has received four competing proposals for the upcoming auction of Rota Mogiana, which is scheduled to occur on Friday at B3, the São Paulo Stock Exchange. Companies that submitted their proposals include Motiva (formerly CCR), EPR, Azevedo and Travassos, and MC Brasil, associated with the Mubadala Fund. While inquiries were made to these firms for further details, no responses have been provided at the time of publication.

The Rota Mogiana project encompasses a network of 520 kilometers of highways currently managed by the Department of Highways of São Paulo (DER/SP) and the concessionaire Renovias. The state government aims to invest approximately R$ 9.4 billion to enhance these roadways, which traverse the cities of Campinas, Mogi Guaçu, Casa Branca, and São João da Boa Vista. Planned improvements involve expanding portions of the roadways, adding additional lanes, and constructing new pedestrian features, indicating a significant commitment to infrastructure development in the state.

This auction is integral to ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in São Paulo, which is crucial for facilitating economic activities and enhancing connectivity among cities. By engaging private firms in this auction, the state government not only seeks necessary funding but also hopes to leverage the expertise of these companies for more efficient project implementation. The outcome of this auction could set a precedent for future infrastructure projects in Brazil, emphasizing the need for public-private partnerships in addressing the country's transportation challenges.
