The National Government of Ecuador has extended direct in-person services for identity cards and passports until July 31, 2026, to reduce wait times and streamline processes.
The Ecuadorian government has decided to extend its in-person services for obtaining identity cards and passports without the need for appointments until July 31, 2026. This initiative has been put in place following observed improvements such as faster service, reduced waiting times, the elimination of intermediaries, and more orderly processes. In 2026 alone, a significant number of identity cards (338,537) and passports (61,795) have already been issued, reflecting the high demand for these essential services.
The Civil Registry also emphasizes that these services are available from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00, across the entire national territory. Citizens are encouraged to avoid using intermediaries or paying additional fees, as all requisite services can efficiently be accessed directly at the agencies. The institution has established clear channels for reporting any irregularities that may arise during the application process, further illustrating its commitment to transparency and efficiency.
Requirements for obtaining identity cards and passports include presenting a previous ID for those renewing, and filling out an official form. By making these services readily accessible, the government aims to streamline administrative processes and ensure that citizens can obtain vital identification without unnecessary complications, ultimately supporting better governance and public service delivery in Ecuador.
