Pärnu Beach Tennis ITF Tournaments' Top Spots Remain in Estonia

Estonian players achieved notable victories in the recent ITF beach tennis tournaments held in Pärnu.

Over the weekend, two ITF beach tennis tournaments, BT10 Pärnu 1 and BT10 Pärnu 2, took place at the Jõulumäe beach tennis hall, showcasing the skill of Estonian players. The tournament formats were largely similar, but the outcomes varied. In the BT10 Pärnu 1 tournament, the Susi sisters, Adelia and Aylin, justified their top seed by overcoming Helene Liiviku and Merilin Vikkiski in a challenging quarterfinal match, before defeating the third-seeded duo of Renate Hinno and Elina Kalvest in the semifinals. In the final, they triumphed over Latvian sisters Anna and Marta Andrejeva, demonstrating resilience by coming from behind after losing the first set.

The second tournament, BT10 Pärnu 2, saw the Hinno/Kalve duo seeking revenge against the Susi sisters, managing to secure victory with a score of 6:3, 6:1 after previously eliminating the Andrejevas decisively in the quarterfinals. This outcome illustrated the competitive nature of the events, as each match showcased varying strategies and skills on display amid the vibrant setting of Pärnu beach.

Despite the strong showing from Estonian participants, the top-seeded men's pair, Mahe Bourjea from France and Emilis Jukna from Lithuania, were unable to claim victory in either tournament, indicating a level of unpredictability and the emergence of local talent in the beach tennis scene, which can potentially impact future competitions in the region.
