Planning to set the first national record in Latvia for balloon flight
Inga van Havere and her son Gabriels Grīnbergs intend to set the first official national record for balloon flight in Latvia, beginning their journey in Estonia and aiming for Lithuania.
Inga van Havere, a hot air balloon pilot from Latvia, along with her son Gabriels Grīnbergs, are preparing to establish the first national record for balloon flight in Latvia. Their planned flight is set to commence on February 25 at 7 AM in the Tartu region of Estonia. The mother-son duo will undertake a continuous journey in their artistic hot air balloons named 'Crystal Gloria' and 'Fibonacci', aiming to break records for distance traveled and flight duration.
The Latvian Aeroclub, recognized as the official sports federation for ballooning, will oversee and document the flight for record registration. Van Havere states that previous flights they have made were not officially recognized for distance or duration, and this attempt aims to set the first officially registered record in the country’s history of ballooning. This effort highlights the ambition within the Latvian ballooning community to achieve formal recognition for their sports and achievements.
Setting this record not only positions Latvia in the global ballooning landscape but also serves to inspire other pilots and promote the sport within the country. If successful, this endeavor will mark a significant milestone for aviation sports in Latvia and encourage more participation and recognition for ballooning.
