Plussa points can now be collected at the store checkout in a new way
MobilePay allows the collection of K-Group's Plussa points at checkout using Apple phones with NFC technology.
The article discusses a new feature in the MobilePay application that enables users to read K-Group's Plussa card at store checkout with Apple phones. The process of payment and collecting Plussa points can be done through the same application, emphasizing convenience for users. However, the checkout still requires two steps, accessing the Plussa section in the app followed by payment with the card, utilizing NFC technology for proximity payments.
The feature's launch in Finland comes in light of the European Union's directive for Apple to open up NFC chips on their devices by 2024. Perttu Kröger, the country manager of MobilePay in Finland, notes that contactless payments via phones are currently the fastest-growing payment method globally. The introduction of this feature marks a significant development, especially since Apple Pay has been the only contactless payment option available on Apple's closed iPhones.
Furthermore, while this feature currently works with Apple devices, there are plans for support on Android phones, expected to roll out later in the summer. This advancement in mobile payment technology highlights a trend towards greater integration of digital payment solutions in retail environments, making transactions more efficient and user-friendly.
