A long-awaited update from Mobilepay
Mobilepay has introduced remote reading of the Plussa card for Apple iPhones, with plans for Android devices later this year.
Mobilepay has announced a significant update by enabling remote reading of the Plussa loyalty card directly from Apple iPhones. This feature, which utilizes NFC technology, means that users can now effortlessly register their Plussa points at checkout by simply tapping their phone. As a pioneer in mobile wallets, Mobilepay claims to be the first to offer this capability on iPhone devices, which greatly enhances user convenience. The feature for Android devices is expected to roll out later this year.
The development comes in the wake of the European Union's directive mandating Apple to open its NFC chip by 2024, which has been eagerly anticipated by Mobilepay and its users. Perttu Krรถger, the country manager for Mobilepay in Finland, expressed enthusiasm about the new functionality, noting that customers have been looking forward to this integration since the EU announcement. Until now, users had to rely on displaying a barcode through the K-Ruoka app to register their Plussa points, making this update a notable improvement.
The remote reading feature is designed to streamline the customer experience by making loyalty rewards easier to manage. Users can enhance their Mobilepay app by linking their Plussa card, which allows them to collect points and redeem related discounts directly at the point of sale. This advancement not only simplifies loyalty program participation but also positions Mobilepay at the forefront of mobile payment innovations in Finland, as it adapts to consumer needs and technological advancements.
