'João do Pulo' track enters final phase for certification

The new athletics track at the João Carlos de Oliveira 'João do Pulo' Sports Center in Pindamonhangaba is nearing completion and will soon seek international certification from World Athletics.

The city of Pindamonhangaba is about to initiate the final stages of work on the new athletics track at the João Carlos de Oliveira 'João do Pulo' Sports Center. In the coming weeks, the installation of aluminum curbs will take place along the sides, along with the finishing touches on the lane marking paint and the setup of a cage for the shot put and discus throwing areas. Additionally, the starting blocks for athletes will be installed during this phase.

After completing these remaining preparations, the city's Sports and Leisure Department will apply to World Athletics (formerly known as IAAF), the governing body responsible for certification of all athletic competitions, to obtain international certification for the new track. Securing this certification is the final step in establishing one of the most modern athletics tracks in Latin America, an achievement that underscores Pindamonhangaba's commitment to enhancing its sports facilities.

The process for obtaining certification from World Athletics is structured with multiple stages and will continue even after the track becomes operational. According to the Sports Secretary, the homologation (formal approval) from World Athletics is contingent upon the completion of other ongoing works, highlighting the methodical approach taken to ensure the track meets international standards before being fully utilized by athletes.
