Suspects of applying the 'Good Night, Cinderella' scam are arrested after drugging men in the DF and GO
Two women were arrested in Brazil for allegedly drugging and robbing men after romantic encounters.
In a recent operation named "Good Night, Cinderella," two women, Vitoria Fernandes Soares and Aline Rodrigues dos Santos, aged 26, were arrested on suspicion of drugging and robbing men following romantic meetings in the Federal District and Goiás. They reportedly laced drinks with medication, rendering their victims unconscious before stealing from them. The arrests took place after the police executed search warrants in Águas Lindas, Goiás, on March 13, 2023.
Prior to their arrest, the women had evaded law enforcement by traveling out of state to Bahia for Carnival festivities. The police were actively searching for them, as the investigation revealed that they would make online bank transfers and purchases using the victims' credit cards once they were incapacitated. Their modus operandi highlights a concerning trend of opportunistic crime targeting unsuspecting individuals during personal encounters, which raises serious questions about personal safety and consent in social interactions.
The arrests have sparked discussions about the necessity for heightened awareness and precautionary measures during dating encounters. Authorities are urging potential victims to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. The impact of this incident extends beyond the immediate legal consequences for the suspects, as it serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with modern dating scenarios, emphasizing the need for education on consent and the potential dangers of meeting strangers online.
