The Estonian national golf team has announced the appointment of 32-year-old Goncalo Pinto as their new head coach. Pinto will take charge of his first major tournament with the men's team at the Portuguese Open Championships, after the Estonian Golf Association finalized his contract last week. Currently, he is already involved in a training camp in Turkey with the team.

During his brief playing career, Pinto achieved significant success in various age categories in Portugal, with his best performance in European championships being a fourth-place finish. He also has experience competing on the European and Challenge Tours, having made over 20 starts. Among his notable mentees is Ricardo Gouveia, who is performing well on the DP World Tour, holding third place in the season's standings, which highlights Pinto's capability to coach and develop talent.
