On Sunday night, two elderly individuals were tragically killed in a road accident while crossing the BR-392 in Canguçu, located in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The victims, Aldaura Buss, 71, and her nephew Gilberto Storch, 60, had just attended a service at a local Protestant church, Comunidade Blaas. As they were walking towards their parked car at a gas station across the highway, they were struck by a pickup truck, leading to their untimely deaths.

The vehicle involved in the incident was identified as an Amarok pickup truck. The local civil police reported that the driver was traveling at a speed deemed appropriate for the road conditions and stopped to assist the victims immediately following the accident. A breathalyzer test conducted by the authorities showed no alcohol consumption, indicating that the driver was not under the influence at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the two passengers in the vehicle were unharmed during the accident.

Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses as part of the investigation, and they await the findings from forensic reports. Depending on the investigation's outcome, the driver may face charges for involuntary manslaughter due to the lack of intent to kill involved in traffic accidents.
